About Building Beams
Building Beams is a complete innovation lab in three boxes. Based on the open-source Grid Beam building system, drilled timber beams bolt together into frames, carts, cranes, forts and wheelbarrows, so students can design, test and refine machines that actually move.
There are no set instructions. A simple cart today becomes a crane tomorrow, so the kit grows with your learners and supports open-ended inquiry across many terms.
What's in the set
- Durable, reusable drilled timber beams
- Four 125mm robust wheels
- Boards in various shapes and sizes for floors, walls and roofs
- Four functional pulleys with rope
- A full assortment of bolts, nuts and washers
The only plastic parts are the four wheels and the polypropylene rope. Each set is made by hand, so there may be a short lead time.
